Making a splash?

Two new pubs reviewed on the site: The Swim Inn (new Weatherspoons pub in the old Glossop Road Baths) and Ha! Ha! Bar and Canteen (OK, not so new!)

Bar 8: an shut and open case

Popular live music venue Bar 8 closed recently, although apparently this was not because it wasn't popular enough. The management behind The Deep End at Hillsborough (itself a popular live music venue) have since taken over the bar. The venue will reopen after a month of refurbishments as art : room, on the 19th of February.

Voting Shake-up

If you follow the users votes results you'll know that since it opened, the Devonshire Cat dominated the leaderboard. However, we've just retired all the votes originally cast more than six months ago to ensure that the votes reflect peoples current attitudes.

The result is that The Devonshire Cat and The Rutland have been deposed, but there's not much in it at the top so they could be poised for a quick comeback!

If you first voted more than a couple of months ago, go back to your favourite (or least favourite) pubs and make sure your votes are still recorded. From now on votes over six months old will expire, so keep coming back to update your votes.

Pub comings and goings...

The Foundry and Firkin on West Street has now become O'Neills and very posh it looks too. Hi-tech pub Bar Matrix has opened at Charter Square. The Jolly Buffer on Ecclesall Road has re-opened as JB's. O'Hagans by Devonshire Green has been demolished to make way for apartments - BOO!
